Your WCHOA board of directors is getting bids on the installation of a fountain located about 300 feet off the end of the clubhouse pier.
How do you feel about this possible addition to our community?

I would really prefer to have something installed geared towards safety for the WC residents. There have been too many incidents within the past couple of years and a cutdown in 'outside' traffic could help. |

If the purpose of the fountain is to aerate the water to improve oxygen content for a lake that is not presently clean enough, then a fountain is warranted. If the purpose is just to be pretty, I think paying extra for the electricity to run the pumps is not a good use of our money. |

We also need to stop throwing trash into the lake! |

As far as the fountain goes my brother-in-law owns a company that does lake management and fountains. I'm sure he could give the community a good deal if someone wants to contact me for his information. |

I would rather see some plants replaced in the cul-de-sacs. Alot of those bushes have died and I think some new ones are warranted. I also noticed the mulch is low in the playground. I liked the landscaping and new sign out front. Hopefully, it'll come back from the freeze. |

Twenty years ago when we first moved in the cost per homeowner was going to be around $400 to install..I'm wondering what the cost would be now. Anyway, gates would be a safety improvement as well as add value to our properties. |

Re: Would you enjoy seeing a fountain in our lake (Score: 1) by Ralph on Sunday, March 07 @ 06:50:53 CST (User Info | Send a Message) | | I think a fountain would be a very nice addition to our community as long as it doesn't cost anything above the fees we already pay twice a year. Many people use the walk around the lake for dog walking or exercise & I believe it would be welcomed by them. I don't live on the lake so I'm not biased that way. |

Re: Would you enjoy seeing a fountain in our lake (Score: 1) by larrywilde (larry_wilde@hotmail.com) on Sunday, March 21 @ 15:32:05 CDT (User Info | Send a Message) | No, I would not "enjoy seeing a fountain...". There are numerous reasons why:
1. Capital costs, expenses to operate and the required maintainence. In this economic climate, is this a prudent expenditure or pretty to look at?
2. A change in the natural beauty of the lake and our neighborhood vistas across the lake.
3. How large a fountain? What water height does it reach? Does it make a real impact on the water quality, community, etc?
4. How about noise from the pump, to the water shooting from the sprayhead, to water splashing 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
5. The proposal for a fountain sounds like a personal interest for someone's lakeside property. I live on the lake and do not want to see or hear a fountain. |
